For a lot of us, learning about finance is a tricky thing. It feels unnecessarily complicated and hard to access. We think “I can budget, I understand my finances, that’s enough for me.” But realistically, we need to understand how money works in order to use it to our advantage. I’m a giant reader, and have been for most of my life. So when I wanted to learn about finance, I turned to books…and the public library.

We believe that each money move you makes has a ripple effect on building healthier, wealthier communities. You know women that belong in our community and we want to reward you for inviting them in with our Ambassador Program.

The Pledgettes got our name from the commitment of members to pledgee 1% of their income to growing themselves financially.

Your money mindset is the key to understanding where you are starting so you can take action on where you are going!

In 2019, I had some white space to think about how I wanted to spend my time, money, and energy. I had some big “why not me” energy and I was working on some Big Financial Goals alone. I wanted to learn from mentors, celebrate with friends, and build a team who could provide their experience and knowledge to help me achieve my goals.

Yeah, what I needed and wanted was a financial community. I couldn’t find it; so I built one!

Recently, I was asked to write a guest blog for Outgrow Your Garage. Since the new year is upon us I chose to write about business goal-setting. So often as business owners, we keep moving the carrot, we don’t feel like we have “enough” money to make that business investment or take that risk.

This was a tough year for me, it did not spark joy. So I’m ready to thank 2022 and release it.

Making confident financial decisions looks completely different to different people. We talk a lot about that at The Pledgettes.

A few months ago I bought the Monopoly game app for my phone and have been playing quite a bit. It’s interesting playing the game as an adult, a real estate investor, and the founder of a Financial Community. Here’s what I’ve learned.

One of the longest relationships in your life is your relationship with money. While you can ignore your money (which nobody recommends), you can’t break-up with your money. You’re going to be in this relationship for the rest of your life. It’s time to take a more active role and confidently make more values-aligned money moves in your business and life.

Ann’s presentation was all about developing systems, processes and habits around creating that feeling of abundance – no matter how much money you make. Because, when you can feel abundance in your life – you attract more of it.

In the aftermath of the Supreme Court’s decision to reverse Roe vs. Wade via the Dobbs vs. Jackson Case, it was hard for me to find light in that darkness. And though the recent election has helped quell some worries – others remain heavy.

In September, we hosted our Denver Startup Week session at Capital One Cafe. They captured their favorite clips of the week, including an interview with Jenn Uhen and highlights from our session. Recently Amanda Kruger, LPC, EMDR, presented to The Pledgettes about Financial Trauma. It mades sense to me that it would exist but it wasn’t until Amanda deeply described it that I had a better understanding of what it could do to people on their personal financial journey. I asked Amanda if she would write a guest blog for us so you could learn more about Financial Trauma, identify if you have experienced it, and work through it with some tips from Amanda. Last week, the news is abuzz with the potential merger of Kroger and Albertsons.

I was pretty surprised by this since King Soopers/City Market (Kroger) and Safeway (Albertsons) are the two main grocery stores I see in Colorado and it seemed like they would have a monopoly. As I read on, they are merging to try to compete with Walmart, who is always trying to compete with Amazon.
