Purpose Over Perfect for Confident Financial Decisions with Marin Laukka

Making confident financial decisions looks completely different to different people. We talk a lot about that at The Pledgettes.

It’s why we host events that explore a variety of topics instead of picking a one-size-fits-all ideology as a group.

Honestly – it would be so much easier to just say there was one right way to get rich. And we could all do it by following 7 easy steps. But building true, meaningful wealth just doesn’t work that way.

More hard news: this approach requires introspection.

To figure out the most meaningful way that you can build wealth? You need to deeply dig into who you are and what you really care about.

Enter Marin Laukka who did a workshop with us about a month ago on making confident financial decisions by focusing on PURPOSE instead of PERFECTION.

Marin’s goal is to help people make confident financial decisions. And to understand that confident does not always equate with perfect.

In this workshop – we spent a lot of time clarifying what “confident financial decisions” means to us – based on our values, beliefs and goals. Here are the three steps that Marin walks us through:

Step 1: Clarify Your Values
Step 2: Explore Your Beliefs
Step 3: Set Your Goals

We worked through this booklet to evaluate each step.

I’ve done countless exercises like this and each time I learn something new. Both because my values change over time and with new seasons in my life. And my goals change just the same. We are dynamic people and we need to continually check in with ourselves to ensure we are setting ourselves up to hit the right milestones, the right way and feeling good about our journey.

This workshop was an incredible tool to evaluate my next money moves as the year comes to a close. I’m in a season of life where change is CONSTANT. This workshop was a great reminder that – while my values overall remain consistent in my life – there is room for the priorities within those values to change.

Give the process a shot if you are wrapping up the year! You might be surprised about what you learn.

– Alison
