At The Pledgettes, we believe…
At the Pledgettes, we believe there is not one “best” way to build wealth. Wealth can be built through a variety of strategies, choices, and investments. You need a Financial A-Team, not just one professional to guide, celebrate, and support you on your financial journey. Read more . . .
You Will Be a Millionaire
I have Big Financial Goals; you have them too! Now, let’s talk about that lovely trigger word…Millionaire.
I know it’s a trigger word because it comes up in many conversations I have: with Pledgettes members, not-yet-Members and at events. It can be overwhelming when someone on social media shares (may feel like bragging) that they are a millionaire. In these conversations, I encourage people to explore why being a millionaire is triggering.

Redefining Networking for Women
A Pledgettes posted this article, To Land Top Jobs, Women Need Different Types of Networks than Men, in our community last week and it resonated with many people, including me.
I remember in my twenties, my (male) coworkers frequently golfed together. I was on the golf team in high school and we would talk about how I played golf and I waited for an invite that never came. Their defense would probably be that I never asked to go, for what’s that worth.
Exploring Labor Day
On this Labor Day, let’s talk turkey. While the holiday has come to signify the “end of summer,” it’s origination was “an annual celebration of the social and economic achievements of American workers.” (Department of Labor)
Let’s look at how we’re doing on that social and economic achievement.
Women’s Equality: The Best Book Still Being Written
Today is Women’s Equality Day. A day that was chosen to celebrate the passing of the 19th Amendment, or Women’s Right to Vote. This is also The Pledgettes’ anniversary (a very intentional choice).
Women’s Equality is the best book still being written. We have had some great chapters, some big drama, some imperfections and mistakes, and a whole slew of characters. However, we need to acknowledge that women are not yet equal. The book is not yet done. And you are a character in this book. Whether it’s at your family level or a global level.
Stop Trying to Be “Self-Made”
The Self-Made Man is a fallacy. Anyone claiming to be self-made is hiding a whole heck of a lot of people in their shadows. I proudly identify as a Community-Made Women and want to celebrate all those that have helped me on this journey. So enjoy this open love letter to my Financial A-Team.

Money Mindset, Self-Worth, and Burnout as a Solopreneur Business Owner
As a business owner (and human being in general) something I’m learning about myself is that I base a lot of my value and self-worth on the amount of money I make. Seeing that total dollar amount at the end of each month can either make me feel like jumping for the moon or like digging a hole to hide

5 Ways to Improve Your Salary Negotiation in 5 Minutes (Word-for-word scripts you can use immediately)
According to a 2018 survey conducted by staffing giant Robert Half, Inc, only 55% of job seekers negotiated their salaries, a contrast to the 70% of hiring managers who expected to entertain some back-and-forth.
What’s more, there’s a larger uncomfortable reality within that statistic. That same study revealed that only 45% of women (compared to 68% of men) played the bargaining game.

Debt Will No Longer be My Money Story
I only know debt. I grew up with it, so when I started accumulating debt in my teens it seemed almost like a rite of passage. I’ve given far more thought to it as an adult than I ever did then. It was that normal.
What I now know is debt is normal because we’ve normalized it. Debt doesn’t have to be a way of life or any kind of comfort zone. Like most things that weigh us down, it took having my own “enough is enough” moment to come up for air and find my own way out of it.
