Featuring some Financial Friends During Financial Literacy Month
We asked a few of our Financial Friends to share some financial knowledge they wished more people had…and how they learned it!

I wish more people understood the importance of credit. In my opinion, it’s one of the most powerful financial tools—second only to investing. Building credit takes time, and many people avoid it altogether. But the truth is, there’s a big difference between good credit and bad credit, and it’s crucial to understand that distinction before taking out any loans, no matter the term.
My father taught me many lessons about money—some great, some not so great—but credit was definitely one of the wins. I got my first credit card at 18, and today I have a credit score over 800.

A money topic I want to shout from the Colorado mountaintops is that “financial therapy exists!” One of the key principles of financial therapy is to bust through shame, negative beliefs, money blocks.
I found financial therapy about 10 years ago - not long after the niche found it's name and it's foundations. I didn't have this approach, plus I had a personal mindset of scarcity, with an unhealthy dose of shame, when I was developing my money beliefs and habits in my 20’s and 30’s. I would have told you then that “getting out of debt” was somehow connected to morality, sadly. Now I know that this is just one of the ways to heap on shame and misdirection. I didn’t have a financial therapy mentor when I went through my divorce years ago, so I worked through that money disaster out of scarcity - still! - and a lack of confidence in my earnings capacity.
Now, as a leading, global financial therapist, I get the privilege daily to help women like you bust through limiting beliefs, money blocks, and money anxieties and step into new and exciting chapters in their money story.
