There are massive demographic imbalances when it comes to cryptocurrency investing in regard to both age and gender. Billionaire venture capitalist, Tim Draper, is quoted as saying, “I think anyone with a young brain already has a (crypto) wallet. The rest will follow. The same thing happened with internet adoption.” Tim also thinks women are the key to mainstream adoption of crypto usage because they frequently manage household spending. Unfortunately, the same can’t be said for the percentage of women that are currently invested in crypto. More than twice as many men are invested in cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum than women. Those statistics become even more stark when taking age into account. Middle age and older women invest in crypto even less. One of the top reasons people avoid crypto investing is that they simply don’t understand it. This event will work to demystify the history of Bitcoin, the potential value of cryptocurrency and the underlying technology, blockchain, and give attendees a foundation for making a more informed decision as to whether they’d like to engage with cryptocurrency.
Speaker, Audra Gibson, has been invested in cryptocurrency since 2017, and has hundreds of research and engagement hours under her belt. Her heart is to share her knowledge and experience with people to empower them to make informed decisions about crypto investing. She’d also love to see more balance in the percentage of male to female crypto investors.
